RBI Project

The EVC and a number of other students at Cal Poly State University are working on a electric vehicle battery interchange project that will be going on for the next school year. Major barriers to large-scale implementation include limited energy storage and long battery recharge time. The most common techniques of recharging electric vehicles today are rapid charging of batteries while in the vehicle, exchanging the energy carrying material in the batteries or changing out the entire battery. California Polytechnic State University’s Electric Vehicle Club has decided to design and build an automated battery interchange to demonstrate the feasibility of changing out the entire battery. To do this, the EVC has designed the system described in the following report and is currently working on acquiring the materials needed to complete the project.

RX7 Race Car

The EVC at Cal Poly State University has started up old traditions and is working towards getting back on the race way. The EVC is working on restoring a Mazda RX7 Race Car in the hopes of being able to get on a track by February of 2008. To complete their project the EVC only needs some batteries and a new controller. If you like working with electronic or just racing car this may be just the project for you!
